Waters Edge is an premier residential estate situated on the natural waterfront of Rynfield Sand Pan. There are only one hundred units, split between freehold houses and sectional-title apartments, which is small enough for us to retain a sense of community. Waters Edge Estate offers a friendly welcome and a tranquil atmosphere to residents and visitors.
The pan is a protected wildlife conservation area with diverse birdlife, including flamingos, herons, egrets, ducks, go-away-birds, and guineafowl. It is home to the African Bullfrog, one of the largest frogs, with males weighing up to 2 kg.
The Annual General Meeting of the Home Owners Association was held on Saturday 30 January at 08h30, and the Body Corporate AGM was held on Saturday 6 February at 10h00. Thank you to all who attended. The minutes are available on the Downloads page.
Having peace of mind in our homes is of the utmost importance, and therefore security is always the top priority. Residents have expressed their concerns about waiting outside the main gate after hours, as this poses a potential hijacking risk. To address this, we have installed a new card reader outside the gate. This eliminates the need for a guard to walk out, get your card, and walk back to the internal reader before opening the boom, which in turn reduces the amount of time you need to wait outside. The details are available on the Downloads page.
Most of you are aware that Waters Edge is in a bit of a communications black hole: there is poor cellphone reception, no Telkom lines, and no coverage by iBurst, Sentech or Neotel WiMAX. Some residents have been able to get signal with extended antennae, but others have no connectivity at all. After five years of waiting, I am pleased to advise that broadband internet access is now finally available.
We have identified a vendor that offers wireless internet to all Waters Edge residents at a competitive cost. Edgenet Technologies is a local company that has provided similar solutions to other complexes in the area with positive results. A few units have participated in a pilot study for the past three months to test connection speeds and stability, and we believe the service is ready be rolled-out to the greater community.
Please do not send any queries regarding Edgenet to the Directors or George Rennie as we cannot assist, but rather contact the vendor directly. You can call 082 654 7912, email firstname.lastname@example.org or visit edgenet.co.za for further details. The Edgnet Subscriber Agreement is available on the Downloads page for those who are interested.
